Several issues of Bijutsukai are found in the collections of the Smithsonian Libraries’ Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum branch. This print depicts a pattern of roughly-drawn flowers with dark pistils, set against an inky backdrop. The simple pattern is punctuated with small round accents. Similarly, in Golden Lighting’s Smithsonian Kyoto collection, double-layered glass flowers sit atop metal stems. The glass flowers feature opal interiors with glossy, clear glass coatings. Like those in the print, each flower is speared with metal pistils and stamen. The large, flower-shaped diffusers soften the light of the candelabra bulbs.
